Fantastic food and excellent service, valet friendly place with reasonable deletion of wine. Staff very friendly, helping you to feel like at home. I will go there again. I am not surprised that it is in best 10 restaurants in Ashbourne! WitSKA
Wow! Our trip to The Basement in Ashbourne was like being in real Thailand. My chicken pad Thai had sweet succulent chicken with beautiful squishy rice noodles. We were served by the boss, (who is from Thailand .) An all round awesome visit, we loved it. Amelia Q
Finished work late on Thurs before Good Friday kids were home - great excuse to phone & book a table ! Good job as it was busy - had a great meal as usual but tried my sons favorite as I never normally stray from Green Thai curry - Duck tamarind - good but I prefer my fave. Love the magic refreshers at the end. Had an enjoyable debate with the next friendly table on the next Bond ! Will be back soon at next available excuse ! Sarah H
After a day of exploring Ashbourne we wanted a place to sit, unwind and enjoy a good meal. We had walked by The Basement previously on our travels, but was unsure about whether to eat there due to how it looked from the outside. It was a bright red door with neon open signs and looked a touch seedy. We decided to give it a try and were instantly seated by a very polite hostess. Our drinks order was placed a minute or so after being seated and our food order as soon as we had our drinks. Very fast! The restaurant itself was a cosy place set up in the basement and looked like an old wine cellar. It was tastefully decorated with themed ornaments, red lighting, silk tablecloths and candles on the tables. A great choice for a romantic night out, business meeting or social gathering. The food did not disappoint either. Due to the early bird menu I took advantage of the 2 courses for £9.95 offer and had spring rolls to start that were served with a sweet chilli sauce. They were served fast, but were piping hot, crispy and delicious. For my main I ordered Gaeng Ga-ree, a yellow curry made with chicken and potatoes, served with steamed rice. Beautiful is an understatement. They had balanced the flavours and quantities perfectly. I would go back to eat there in a heartbeat!
