Business Profile

Welcome The Churnet Valley Railway takes you on a journey back to the classic days of railway travel on a rural line that passes through beautiful countryside known as Staffordshire's "Little Switzerland".

About Us Our picturesque stations offer lots of interest with a complete range of visitor facilities, and there's plenty more to see and enjoy along the way. In addition to the 10½ mile return journey along the valley, there's a taste of contrasting moorland scenery on the 10-mile round trip to Ipstones Station along the Cauldon branch.

Visiting Us The Churnet Valley Railway takes you on a journey back to the classic days of railway travel on a rural line that passes through beautiful countryside known as Staffordshire's "Little Switzerland".
Our picturesque stations offer lots of interest with a complete range of visitor facilities, and there's plenty more to see and enjoy along the way.
In addition to the 10 ½ mile return journey along the valley, there's a taste of contrasting moorland scenery on the 10-mile round trip along the Cauldon branch to Ipstones Station.
With a programme of special events, dining dates, venue hire and education facilities, we think you will agree that we are more than just a railway.

Our Services The Railway operates thanks to the army of willing volunteers who are members of the North Staffordshire Railway Company (1978) Ltd, the charity which rescued Cheddleton Station nearly 40 years ago and helped establish both the railway and a heritage collection.
We also work alongside Moorland & City Railways who control the line between Stoke-on-Trent and Cauldon Lowe. Expansion of our services along the line towards Stoke is currently concentrating on Endon Station and will continue through 2014.
